I believe in the collaborative process for a reason. Too often, family law clients experience the expense and emotional upheaval of a divorce and separation involving judges, hearings, extensive discovery, and trials. Preparing for and attending even a short, seemingly insignificant hearing can cost thousands of dollars in attorney fees. And, by the end, you might have made little progress in the overall march to the finish line. This can be insanely discouraging for everyone involved.

In my view, the collaborative model is an alternative (ahem… saner) approach to divorce that can help mitigate against some of these unwanted financial and emotional costs. During my time in private practice, I have worked at firms in both Charlotte and the Triangle utilizing the traditional and the collaborative models. Ultimately, I’ve found the latter the most rewarding way to be a lawyer. I’ve found it to be the most rewarding approach for clients, too.

In the course of my representation, I advise clients on a wide range of legal topics, including separation and divorce, assessing and dividing the marital estate, understanding post-separation support and alimony, negotiating child custody, and executing the most sensible course of action with respect to a client’s unique facts. My work throughout my professional career has honed not only my legal skills but also my deep sense of care for clients (and for everyone involved). These are undoubtedly indispensable aspects of effective client-representation and are central to resolving matters thoughtfully and collaboratively.

My practice is focused mainly in the Mecklenburg County area, but I will also work throughout the state when needs arise. I look forward to working with you.
