Dan Lewis is a family law partner and NC DRC Certified Family Financial Mediator with Tin Fulton Walker & Owen, PLLC. He has exclusively practiced family law since 2005.
I understand the distress and anxiety caused by family law issues and the impact of separation and divorce on families and children. My goal is to work closely with my clients to resolve their legal issues and to assist them and their families in moving forward with their lives. In 2015, I became a certified mediator with the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. As a private and court-appointed mediator, I act as a neutral third party who assists families in resolving disputes outside the courtroom.
I was originally trained in Collaborative Law in 2009 while practicing family law in the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland. While I assist clients in litigation, negotiation and mediation, I greatly appreciate the benefits that the Collaborative Law process provides clients and have had numerous Collaborative Law cases. Collaborative Law allows parties to resolve their domestic disputes in a non-adversarial way outside of the courtroom. Through a series of structured meetings, and with the support of your attorneys and sometimes with other third-party professionals, like mental health and financial professionals, you and your spouse work together to generate creative settlement options for your family. Because you have more control over how your issues are resolved, there is a greater likelihood that the result with be a more durable and long-lasting agreement.
As part of my commitment to the growth of Collaborative Law in Mecklenburg County and North Carolina, I served on the Executive Board of the Charlotte Collaborative Divorce Professionals from 2013 to 2016, and am currently an active member. I encourage you to learn more about the benefits of Collaborative Law.
